Girls Talk: Christmas Tradition

This week on Girls Talk meme theme is Christmas Tradition.

I missed last week theme and so now I was trying to post my entry for this week's theme. So, here's my story.

When I was in the Philippines, my family used to celebrate Christmas on December 24, we called it Buena Noche or Christmas Eve. I think it is part of a Catholic tradition as well. Although, we are not catholic because I have some friends here in US who celebrated the Christmas eve on December 24th.

Last week, we had a good time. My sister came over for a vacation to celebrate the holiday with us. It was memorable since this is actually the first time I celebrated with my sister since we came here in US. It was the happiest memory for us. We had celebrated the Christmas Eve while opening gifts. We also played games while waiting for the 12 am time. We don't have exchange gifts there, maybe because of our financial situation which I guess it is also a big deal.

Then, on my husband's Christmas tradition where I also adapted since I came here in US. They always celebrated Christmas on Christmas day. They opened gifts instead every morning of Christmas day. I thought during Christmas, my husband's family always have gifts for each other...

3. Are you doing anything Xmas day? What? = Yes. We are going to my sister in law's house to celebrate the Christmas day.

New Kitchen Faucet

Last week without a thought I was browsing for a new kitchen faucet. Maybe because when I saw my mother in-law’s bathroom faucet, I fell in love with it. She has the type of modern contemporary faucet with open spout. It looks so elegant and yet simple. So, I was looking for one and maybe we could able to buy one for out bathroom sink too. But I was thinking of getting a new one for our kitchen as well since we have a two handle faucet which sometimes so hard to use, whenever you need to just get a warm water. So, I have found a wide selection of kitchen faucets at Faucet.com. It is a single handle kitchen faucet in chrome. I love it! Plus it was on sale too.

Now, I can’t wait to get one so soon!

REDnesday: Santa Baby

This week on REDnesday, I am going to share about our party last week. We had a good time spending time Christmas together with our family and friends and I bet this is the most unforgettable one because my sister and her family came over for a visit and they stayed for a week to celebrate the holiday with us.

This is also the time, for the first time that I saw and met my new nephew! I was so excited! So here he is! This is also his First Christmas!

His mom and dad bought a Santa attire for him and put him with the gifts...he is so precious! So we took a snapshot of him before he cries! :D

Now, I have been missing him so much...wishing to see him again soon...:(

Childhood Memories

Sunday, December 27, 2009

This week on The Friday Five:

1. What one food most reminds you of your childhood? = I think tomatoes. When I was 5, I always eat tomatoes as a snack. I remember my mom used to buy one bag of tomatoes for me! :D Now, I am done with it.

2. How old were you when you learned how to ride a bicycle? = I never did! Maybe, 30? LOL! I don't know. I am not ashamed of it but I don't know how to ride a bike...:(

3. How old were you when you stopped believing in Santa Claus? = I think when I was 6. We never do maybe because of our faith as well. My parents never did believe on Santa and so we never grew up believing that Santa truly exist.

4. What was your favorite television show/cartoon when you were little? = Care bears! I always love them!

5. What is the youngest age you remember being and do you have a specific memory of when you were that age? = I think when I was between 6 to 7...I still remember when we used to play in the rain together with my childhood friends. We played when it rains all the time and when it floods, we started walking along with it.

Wish to Move...

Tuesday, December 22, 2009

Winter season is here and it was really freezing here in Michigan. So, I thought it could be the worst ever because my sister and her family came over for a visit and we can’t able to go somewhere and have fun. I wish they could able to go back here on summer and by then we can do many things. I wish we lived in a warmest state like Florida, Texas or maybe down more to south area or maybe closer to the Philippines. I miss my home country so much and I really wanted to go back home and visit someday. Well, California is closer to the Philippines than Michigan and if my husband could find a job there, we can able to settle down and start our own family over again.

So, I look online for a Sacramento job search since Sacramento can be a nice place to start because it is not that busy as what some other cities in California do.

Well, it is just a thought on how it is to move into the warmest state.

3x Thirsday: Frusterations

It's time for 3x Thursday and this week question is:

What are 3 things that are currently frustrating you. Why? Is there any way to solve them?

~First of all, our recent internet connection pisses me off and it is so annoying. I always get this server is down, page connection had timed out, etc. and it really bugging me a lot. It frustrates me because I really want to do everything done but I can't because the connection is too slow and I don't know how to fix it.

Secondly, I have lots of things that I wanted to buy but I can't. It frustrates me because it also makes me mad and I don't know what to do.

Lastly, it's almost our wedding anniversary but I don't have anything to give for my husband as a gift. Well...it really disappoints me.

REDnesday: Early Xmas Gift

I am so late to post my REdnesday meme for this week but it will never stop me from posting one today. So, here's my entry for this week:

Yesterday, my husband and I went to my mother in law for some other reason and there my son got an early Christmas gift from his nana. It's a play tent with tube in it. My son loves it a lot! My son never been to any play tent before and so when he had a chance to play it last night, he never stop. It is absolutely perfect especially now that we can't able to go outside and play. This morning, he can't wait to play with the whole thing again. He loves playing in the tent and crawling through the tunnel. It is very colorful too! It has RED, yellow, blue and purple colors in it.

Good thing it is ideal for home, backyard, parks, children's parties and other events.

Cheapest Car Insurance, is it really possible?

Yesterday, we received our car insurance bill again and this time, it is annoying me. Why, because it is cost a lot of money which is somewhat not reasonable at all. We pay 200 dollars for car insurance and I wish we can able to get one at cheapest amount. I know that there is cheapest car insurance available and all we have to do is find it, search it online or talk to people who had the cheapest car insurance of all time. I hate paying car insurance honestly. I don’t know why but it really getting on my nerve because we don’t know where the money go if would in full years with doesn’t have any problem to cover up the car insurance. You know what I mean? Basically the money is gone! It is not a good option either to make accidents just to use the money we paid for. Well, I wish we could just find the cheapest car insurance possible.

Safest Ear Plugs for me!

Tuesday, December 15, 2009

A few days ago, I received a product review for an Acu-Life Pro-Fit Earplugs. Acu-Life Pro-Fit Earplugs is definitely a good product because I have tried it myself. I have been to schooling for more than a year now and I have found it very hard to study by myself, especially if I have a toddler in the house to babysit while reviewing and studying for an exam. Sometimes, I have to wait for my husband to come home from work, then, I can able to settle myself to study but sometimes it is so hard since I could hear my son running around or even screaming at his loudest if he's mad or something. So, then I always wish that there could be other alternatives to keep myself away from him.
So, when I have tried this product today, I was so surprised how effective it was. I had to study and review for my finals next week, and after trying this product, I was so happy because then I can able to focus and concentrate on my review.

Therefore, I recommend this product. If you are looking for an ear plugs that helps you to be away from noise while studying or even an annoying snore from your partner, this is absolutely the best ear plugs. It is customizable which is easy to use and molds to the contour of individual ears and it can fit to any ear sizes and re-use them at any time you want. It is hypo-allergenic & non-toxic product that you can trust.

Now, I can able to be more focus on my study to aim for A's this time.

Aloha Friday: Movie Quotes

Friday, December 11, 2009

It's time for Aloha Friday and this week I'm going to share about movies.

It's time for Aloha Friday and this week I'm going to share about movies.

My husband is so into movies because after watching the movie for several times, he can able to remember some movie quotes I never thought I could remember. Well, maybe by watching the movie 10 times, maybe I could.

Last night, hubby watched the all time Christmas story, you with the movie quote: It'll shoot your eye out, kid. He always knew the next lines of the movie and I can't believe he still have the will to watch it over and over again. A few times, he told me that when he was at his mom's house, for a whole day, he watched the same movie over and over. I was like, what? Is that serious?

Well, I only have some few movie quotes that I like: From the movie The Notebook and Serendipity.

On the Notebook: "The best love is the kind that awakens the soul and makes us reach for more, that plants a fire in our hearts and brings peace to our minds. And that's what you've given me. That's what I'd hoped to give you forever."

On Serendipity: Live your life to the fullest.

So, this week I am sure you have some favorite movie quotes, so share it to me:

This week Aloha Friday question is: What’s your favorite movie quote?

3x Thursday: The Holidays, 2009 Edition

This week on 3x Thursday topic is The Holidays, 2009 Edition.

1. How do you feel about the holidays? Do you like them? Hate them? Why/why not? = I hate them! Because the true meaning of Christmas is the celebration of the birth of Jesus. But, I feel Christmas has become commercialized, and today, the focus has become more about giving and receiving gifts. Many people still acknowledge the birth of Jesus on Christmas, but not as much as they focus on the gift giving part. I mean, I don't ever hear anyone talking about the birth of Jesus at 5 am the morning after Thanksgiving, but, on that same day and time, I do hear people talking about where they plan to shop and what they plan to buy and for whom. And, from that day and time, that's all I hear up until Christmas Eve. Let's face it, the gift giving is what is on people's mind - this is what Christmas has come to be about. To me, it's sad.

2. How was T-Day this year? Did ya make it thru ok? = Yes. I really enjoyed my Thanksgiving this year, as I do every year, but this year just seemed like a better time. There were a lot of things that made it better. One thing, and it’s kind of a small thing, but it made a huge difference, is that we headed to my sister-in-law’s earlier in the day than we have in the past years. Usually on Thanksgiving Day, we hang around our house longer, get ready slowly; watch a little bit of the parades on TV, that sort of thing. But this year we didn't do any of that. In fact, because we just moved into a new house, we don't even have cable TV yet, and couldn't watch the parades. So, the difference this year is, we arrived very early at my sister-in-laws, about 1:00 p.m., and we were able to sit and relax, and talk with our family members and friends for a long time, while sipping eggnog and pop, and eating chips and nuts - it was actually very relaxing and pleasant. Before, we woke up late, took our time getting ready and arrived just before dinner, and it was kind of hectic. But this year, we really had a good time with our family.

3. Are you looking forward to Xmas this year? Why/why not? = Yes, for some reason because my sister's family will come and visit us for the holiday. Then, they will come to spend almost a week with us. This is also my first time celebrating with Filipinos here in our area for Christmas party.

Get Business cards for free!

Wednesday, December 9, 2009

Since my husband found his new job, I thought I could probably find a new job for myself too. When I told him about it, he eventually told me that I should just focus on my studies and stay at home to watch our son. Well, that sounds great until he told me that he might need a second job because his first job might not be enough to cover all our payments and bills, especially our monthly mortgage payment which is kind a big deal right now.

Anyway, he told me that maybe I could find some free business cards online so he can able to make tutoring service. So, I thought that could be a good idea since I have known some friends who badly needed a math tutor for their kids. I would surely recommend my husband to them but not for free, I guess. I told my husband about the website I have found online where I saw a wide selection of business cards and some other things we might need to promote his tutoring services such as magnets, maybe some stickers, or some other tools such as post cards, that would be a good idea.

In the midst of browsing online, I have found some address labels too instead that I like so much especially the Burst of Colour one. Oh, I should have focus on what I am looking for.

Michigan Weather is here!

A couple of days ago we are just experiencing cold weather during the night but now, it has been so cold almost all day. It’s been raining with ice lately and gushing of wind is so overwhelming especially now that we lived by the lake. It was almost like every night we heard the wind pounding on our roof. It is so funny because my husband and I always thought there could be someone climbing up to our window but of course, we are just overreacting.

Anyway, the weather now is kind a cloudy all the time. It’s been snowing lately and windy too here in our area. So, I search for our current state’s weather and I have found out that there could be a snow accumulation for about 2 inches. Then, southwest winds around 20 mph with gusts to around 30 mph. There chance of snow could be 80 percent and today is about 34 Fahrenheit.

Then, tonight it could be blustery. There could be likely snow tonight too. It is so really bad weather today because I have found out that there could be a blow of snow to accumulate 1 to 3 inches. It could be fun tomorrow, I hope so. Since my son and I were looking forward to see some more snow this weekend as well but I heard that the snow will be 60 percent chances. There could be a wind chills around zero tonight.

Oh well, I wish it could be much better soon so me and my son can able to play outside too.

Teachers Training Programs

My husband is a teacher and now he was looking forward to take his master’s degree to pursue his eligibility to teach in a higher education. Unfortunately, he has been going off and on due to financial difficulties because taking a master’s degree quite cost us a lot of money, therefore, finding the right school is necessary just to for him to finish and get a graduate degree.

So for the meantime, I was browsing online and I have found these courses where he can get a training certificate just by going with online courses such as Classroom Management and even Assertive Discipline program for teachers so they can able to deal with students in the classroom with no hassle and stress. Wishing and Hoping...

Christmas is just around the corner and it is also the time for parties and getaway. When the holiday season came, a lot of people celebrated it with gifts and food. Therefore, it is also the time to get ready and watch your diet. Every holiday season, I always have this guiltiness of eating more than I shouldn’t have to. I wish I could just have something to suppress my eagerness to eat and eat, or having snacks in the middle of the night while watching our favorite movies.

So last time, I told my husband that I wanted to lose weight and maybe get back the weight when I was still in the Philippines. Even though, he always told me that I am not fat, but I was indeed chubby and I don't like it. Now, I am wishing and hoping to find the best diet pills in the market, so that it will help me to just minimize my appetite or just help me control what I ate and help me to loose my belly fat. I am not depressed at all; I am just having difficulties of dealing with my guts for having a baby. Well, I think I have to endure it or have the patience to work out and exercise attentively.

Aloha Friday: Reminiscing how Computer changed my Life

Friday, December 4, 2009

It's Friday again and it's time for Aloha Friday, a weekly meme by An Island Life.

A few days ago, I was looking for a net book online for myself to use, since our old desktop was broke. So then, my husband and I were using our laptop for almost a day which is not a good thing I guess because it might fried it or something, but hopefully not.
Anyway, I have found some and I hope I can buy one before the next school start next year. So, in the midst of it, I was thinking of myself, wow! Now, I am more into technology. Aside from shopping online, now I can able to just use computer whenever I wanted to. It reminds me of when did I start using a computer.

To fast forward: I did use computer when I was 16 years old, it was way year 1999. One of our class in home economics, let us choose what course to take. So I took Computer education at that time. It was sweet since it was my first time using a computer and to learn some new stuff about it. Even then, we're using that huge floppy disk. So when I went to college, it was year 2000. I was so into it and truly explore the world of Internet, chatting, emails, networking, and etc.

From 2001 until now, it indeed changed my life for better, I met my husband on the net too. I met new people and some new friends. I even found a lot of things to do using computer and Internet. I have learn how to blog, create my own blog layout. Got help from friends who are expert on blog layout. It was so cool! Although, there are some bad things about computer and Internet, but I guess it depends on the person how to deal with it.

So, here's my question for this week:

Do you remember the things you did when you first started using the Web and how it has changed your life?

My Birth Talk

This week's topic for Girls Talk is Birth Talk. This week topic is very interesting because then we can able to share memories and some unforgettable moments on the day we were born. I don't have that much experiences about my birth. Or maybe I have one but I never ask my mother about it.

So, here's mine:

I was born on April 13 and an Aries. Actually,my mom did not expect me at all when she got pregnant since when she stopped taking pills she did not know that it was that quick to get the body pregnant again. So, I came out as an accident baby. So, then, when I was born my sibling was kind a happy about it. I have some pictures where my older sister and brother holds me. I was born on the night of April 13th though about 10:48 pm. My real name is Jesie-Viol a combination of my mom and my dad's name. I was supposed to be named as April or April Rose but my mom kind a hesitant about it. So, I ended up being named as Jesie Viol. What a unique name though because every time I renew my NBI clearance, I always got it earlier than others which is my luck I guess.

Well, I don't have much memories that I gathered in regards on my birthday....not that much...

3. What do you think of SSRI’s using being used for depression? Do you think they work? Have you ever tried them? = I don't know, but maybe it works with others.

Last week's questions:

1. What’s up for Turkey Day this year? = It's fine. We had our thanksgiving dinner at my in law's this year again.

2. What’s on the menu for Turkey Day? = We had sausage, fettuccine pasta, turkey of course, mashed potatoes, dinner rolls, vegetables, pumpkin pie, salad, and some sides.

3. Besides all of the good food, what’s your favorite thing about Thanksgiving? Why? = I think the Turkey plus somebody is cooking not me! I like to eat free food too!

FOR TODAY... The Simple Woman's Daybook from A Shopaholic Diary

Outside my window... cloudy

I am thinking... about what I won last night from one of the giveaway contest I joined online.

I am thankful for... the best gift of winning a prize!

I am wearing... pajamas and tee.

I am remembering... about what I studied the other day for my exam today!

I am going... to make an appointment for an eye exam and maybe shopping for gifts as well.

I am currently reading... None! Yay!

I am hoping... that someday I can able to buy what I want right away without waiting for money!

On my mind... I was thinking of what to get for my sister's birthday!

From the learning rooms... none at all! Still have more two weeks of school...maybe studying..

Noticing that... that joining giveaways is a lot of fun!

Pondering these words... At times our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us.

From the kitchen... plates that need to be put in a dishwasher

Around the house... my purse, my son's dvd movies, and some socks!

One of my favorite things~ to blog and blog all day!

From my picture journal... a new carpet was finally installed!
