Last Christmas, my family bought a new game to play, the XBOX 360 which my son and my husband love! I love this game too due to the fact that I could also enjoy working out like the zumba. Aside from that my sister and I could play despite our distance through my xbox live subscription. XBOX live offered a very lively which converts our game into an excitement and adventurous game playing for the entire family. I remember when my sister used to say how they got addicted on playing XBOX because of the live excitement it brings every time she played. She can even chat to others during the game right at the comfort of their own home. Therefore, my husband and I never hesitate to get our kids an XBOX because we’re rest assured that XBOX is going to be the best game console ever.

Outside my window...the sunshine is shining the whole day! Although, it rained after but it still warm! I love the Philippine weather!

I am thinking...about how my son was doing. He has been not feeling well for two days now. But I'm so glad to hear that he has been doing well on potty!

I am thankful...that despite the fact that I'm here in the Philippines with my daughter and miss my husband and my son back at home so much, I could still be able to enjoy being here in the Philippines. I missed the food and I'm enjoying it.

In the kitchen...I could smell the fish my mom cooked for our dinner. And also the bitter melon she made. Oh, how I love fresh seafood and vegetables!

I am wearing...a plaid pink pajama and como tank top the whole day. I've been inside the house the whole day due to I wasn't feeling well to go out.

I am creating...a blog posts...and also creating an email for my husband.

I am going...nowhere today for Valentine's day. I wanted to, but I don't have somewhere else to go.

I am wondering...what happened to my son right now. He has been at my sister in law's house. I wish he's doing good. I miss him so much.

I am reading...nothing as of now. I'm enjoying my vacation right now. I don't have time to read books.

I am hoping...that when I come home soon from the Philippines back to US, we still have money to spend and to pay our bills.

I am looking forward to...go to beach soon with my family for my nephew's birthday! I'm so excited about it!

I am learning....how to budget now! LOL!

Around the house...My hair is everywhere! I hate when my hair has been falling out for few months now! I don't know what to do!

I am pondering...this word: "Its not always necessary to run behind people and show your love,

Lighting Essential

It was about a year ago when I decided to buy a new bulb for our outdoor lighting, however, I was disappointed because I noticed that the lighting itself wasn’t working anymore. So, I ended up taking off the bulbs and rant about it. I was devastated because it means one thing; we need to buy a new lighting for our small garden. It’s also lighting for the path as well.

So, whenever it’s night time, we have to use the light by our front door which also takes a lot of energy. I thought what else do I need to repair our outdoor lighting, until I found this cree xm-l which works with any type of lighting. It has a single-die white lighting-class LED for outdoor lighting, portable lighting, indoor lighting and even solar-powered lighting.

Now, I talk to my husband about it. He will try to see if this thing will work on our outdoor lighting. I wish it would because then I don’t need to buy new lighting posts.

Last night, I went out with my sister in law to the mall to buy some stuff and also to just go strolling. After a while we ate at one of my favorite fast food chain, Greenwich. I had their meat spaghetti and a drink with coconut. It was good and I had a good time. Then, after a few minutes, I met a friend from church, we chit chat for an hour. It was a long time which I noticed it’s already late. So, I decided to go home. We ride a jeep (it’s a public transportation commonly found in the Philippines).

As we ride the jeep, my sister in law noticed two men whom were really not seem comfortable. They keep on moving right at their seat. It was weird. I didn’t know until my sister in law asked me to just take off from the jeep. After, we’re gone. She told me about it. I was scared. I didn’t know. We have two male pickpocketers also known as a thief who steals from the pockets or purses of others in public places.

So, anyway, I got nervous. I didn’t expect it. Before that, I started noticing this guy who sat beside me. They used folders or huge bags to cover their hands. So, since his folder was on the top of my purse, I moved my purse sideways. Then, he decided to move away from me. I thank God because he let me feel that I need to do it. That I also got annoyed with the folder was on the top of my purse. I also thank the Lord because of those pickpocketers didn’t follow us. Then, it would be scary. Yes, this is only in the Philippines, I guess.

Well, now, I think it is better to be careful. If you have an idea that pickpocketers are inside the jeep, maybe it is better to just protect your stuff. Pretend you don’t know because they might have knives and ready to kill someone. Also, to pray! Nothing is impossible with God.

Grandpa

My sweet old Grandpa just passed away last month. We got to go to his home that he shared with my grandmother and pick one thing to have that was his. Believe it or not, the thing I chose was his TV. It’s a big, old ancient thing, with not the best picture and you have to sometimes beat it on the left side real hard for it to turn off. But you know what? It was my Grandpa’s favorite thing, and I have the sweetest memories of watching TV with him in his big, comfy chair at night. My family thought I was crazy to want that TV. It took 4 grown men to get it into my truck, but I knew that is what I should have. I’m going to check with Pheonix direct tv to see if I can add this TV to my plan and keep it in the upstairs Den. Every time I watch TV, I’ll be able to think of Granpda.

Chicken Joy and Spag Indulgence

When I got here in the Philippines last week, my first food indulgence is Jollibee. Jollibee is one of the famous fast-food restaurant chain based in the Philippines. I missed their chicken and gravy and most especially their Filipino style spaghetti. I’ve been planning to indulge myself with their chicken joy once I got here in US. I was so excited! Now, I think since I got here two weeks ago, I’ve been in Jollibee for five times now. I don’t know why but I would never get tired of eating Jollibee. I thought after two months, I would be missing Jollibee again.

There’s only two Jollibee in the US. There’s one in California and New York. We live in the state where we live so far at these states. It is not common sense to go there just to eat at Jollibee. Sometimes, I thought of going on a vacation and sometimes stop by at Jollibee New York, but that would be expensive. Oh well, that’s why now I’m going to eat at Jollibee as much as I could.

Getaway with friends

A few months ago, my friends and I were able to communicate all together using an internet video conferencing through a chat messenger. It was indeed a very fun communication because we can able to share and talk at one time. It’s like talking to them in person. We just had so much fun which I forgot it’s almost midnight my time. I didn’t noticed it since I’m getting so excited for my upcoming vacation where I’m going to spend time with my family and friends for more than two months. My friends also discussed of going on a trip soon. I’m so excited! Since this is my first time being away with my kids and being at home as wife and mother. I’m getting so excited and I can’t wait to go on a beach getaway and have fun with my friends.

Young Musician

Yesterday, I went to a shopping mall just to find some new bath towels to use during my whole vacation. Somehow, I found this cute little guitar for my son Josh. He loves playing instruments especially guitar and drums. One time, my brother in law brought in a ukulele and he had a blast. He can play too because he knows how to string his fingers.

Now, I’m thinking of getting him a guitar, it’s small but made with good quality. I look online too and I found a lot of ukuleles and even mini guitars. I was looking forward to really buy a guitar for my son. To enable him to explore music even more at a young age. I think this is the good start for him knowing that my husband and my family are music lovers too. So, now wonder my son would be someday.

The Trip was Good

Last January 19th, together with my baby girl, we flew to Manila, Philippines to stay for two months. It was a tough trip for me knowing that I have a baby with me. I never thought of anything about it, but I know that it will not be easy. I arrived in Manila after almost 20 hours of traveling by plane around 12:10 in the morning of January 20th. There was still a lot of people in Manila, good thing my sister in law was with me during the whole trip. It was so busy in Manila. I was so surprised of how busy and all these traffic and chaos were seemed getting worst in Manila. I was like wonder of I could survive living there.

Anyway, by Sunday, we flew back to Davao. It was smooth, although, the domestic airline was delayed for over 30 minutes. But, it was fast when we already took off. We arrived in Davao City where I used to live seven years ago around 8 pm. I'm so glad seeing my family again especially my mom and my dad.

Now, I'm here. Having fun with my family, friends, and also the food I missed so much. I miss my husband and my son too. But, being here is what I always looking forward to. Someday, sooner, I will return to the US for good and who knows when I was able to come back. So, now I will make most of my vacation.

Vacation Soon

It’s two days more to go before my day to take off to my hometown which I will be having a 2 month vacation for th3e first time after 6 years of being here in the US. Since I came here last 2005, I haven’t had a chance to go back home. This is the first time I’m going so I’m quite so excited about it. All my bags are packed now and I’m definitely ready to go. However, I felt so sad because I’ll be away with my husband again for another 2 months. Since my husband came home from his deployment last week, now I’m leaving again with my infant baby girl. I’m also leaving my son with him which would be the hardest because I’m going to miss him so much.

Anyway, I hope my two months vacation will go by fast. I wish I also set my schedule flight sometime February so that I will have time to spend with my husband, but I was so eager when I purchased my tickets. Now, I can’t do any changes unless I will pay a penalty which is kind a silly to do so.

Well, I’m just going to hope that days will go by fast to see my boys again. I will surely miss them. But, I will be having fun seeing my parents again, to see my brother and his wife, my nephew and niece as well, also, to see some of my friends that I haven’t seen for a very long time.

Buying the house

When we bought our new house, I was so excited. Moving in with my husband for the first time was like being a kid in a candy store – I was having so much fun playing house! What wasn’t so fun, though, was when his boss started making him take all these business trips to Japan. He was gone sometimes for over a week at a time and living in this single family home went from being exciting to kind of scary here all by myself. My husband and I decided to do a few things while he got his travel schedule all worked out. First we researched security system options at a website about home security systems Chicago which made me feel tons better since I’d know if anything was amiss. Then we finally got the dog I’d been begging for which would also be great for guarding me at night. Finally, we asked our neighbors to help keep watch on the place when I was home alone. Now I feel much better being there by myself but I still wish he wasn’t gone so much!

Holiday Presents

1. How much are you looking to spend on holiday gifts this year?
=Well, I was looking forward to maybe about $200 for each person in my household. I was thinking of getting my husband some of the things he love. I also thought of something for my son and daughter. And for myself as well. Well, my husband needs to figure it out what I want though.

2. If you have a pet, will you be buying them anything?
=Unfortunately, my son was allergic to dogs, so we can't have any pets. Plus, our condo don't allow pets so. We don't have pets anyhow.

3. What is the most expensive item on your holiday "wish list"?
=Well, maybe a purse that I love the most, but hubby was not getting it for me for Christmas but for our 7th year anniversary which took 5 days before Christmas. So, I think that's better! But, we still have to buy it.

4. Does you or your family have any special Christmas/holiday traditions that take place every year?
=Yes, going out to see my husband's Aunt Carol for desserts. We did almost every year. But, this year was different. We went there for dinner too since my mother in law (her big sister) died a couple of months ago.

5. What was the best Christmas/holiday gift you ever received?
=Maybe for having two kids in my life! Also, my nice coat for the spring and fall and even winter! It's awesome!

Need a Carpet Cleaners

About a few months ago, my hair started falling out due to pregnancy hormonal changes. It has been falling out for maybe two months now which I find so stressful and sad because I found a lot of hair and especially during I took a shower. I thought I might go bald soon. Fortunately, my hair grows back and though I was suffering with short hair on the forehead area, but I was happy about knowing that it grown than never at all. That would be hard to deal with it.
Anyway, since my hair has been falling out, it was also everywhere in our house.

So, it’s like every day, I had to vacuum and pick up those hairs off from the carpet. It was a lot of work. I wish I would just contact carpet cleaners raleigh nc so that then it would be easier for me to clean up those unwanted hairs. I thought I have to wait though until my hair falling is over, so that I would never have a problem with our carpet anymore. Mostly, the hairs stuck on the carpet too in our staircase, in our bedroom and in our basement which carpets are mostly placed.

Well, I need to save money now for carpet cleaners to clean our carpet soon. I wish my hair would soon stop falling too. It’s scared me somehow.

1. How did 2011 treat you? Any highlights?
=Let me think about the first year of 2011. Well, it was tough. Half of the year, I was dealing with pregnancy. My husband just left for training for about two months. I was with our son for quite a while and pregnant. Then, by March, my mother in law passed away. It was painful. I was pregnant and very emotional. I was just so sad for the first knowing that a loving second mother of mine would never be with us again. Then, by April we went to Florida to see my father in law and maybe just enjoy the pain and loss we've been through. I think I was stressed out too. Then, May we're getting ready for the new bundle of joy. By July, I gave birth to a baby girl via cesarean section. It was painful! I went through a lot of pain from breastfeeding and from the surgery. Then, by September, hubby left for deployment. It was hard being with two kids and be a single mom! I hope 2012 will be better for me! No pain and tears! I'm tired of it! I guess, 2011 is not so good for me ):

2.Got any specific high hopes for 2012? What are they?
=Yes, I hope everything will be good than 2011. My first month of the year 2012 was good. I finally had a chance to see my parents and family after almost 7 years. It was a long time. I'm so excited about it. I hope the rest of the year will be better.

3. Name 3 goals for the upcoming year.
=My goals for the next year will be driving again. I plan to be back behind the wheels. Get my son to have speech therapy and eventually get him to eat. Lastly, to send him to school as well. I'm crossing my finger here! I'm hoping for the best! And I pray God will grant me these wishes.

A lot of people prefer long engagement too, but as for me, I prefer short engagement. I think it depends on how the budget would take along with everything, I guess. Some just prefer it short to just get over with it and enjoy being married for a long period of time. I think it always depends. My husband and I didn’t spend a lot of money on our wedding before. Rather, we spent a lot of money on our honeymoon. I think we went to several resorts online and found two which we love to visit. On Blue Christmas Eve

Last Christmas day was fun where my kids and I were busy opening gifts. We did on Christmas Eve though because I knew that we can’t do it in the morning due to the fact that we need to get ready as well for Christmas dinner at my husband’s aunt. It was our first time to have dinner with them because this is my mother in law’s first Christmas that she wasn’t around. She died last March of this year and so everyone was still coping up with the loss. It’s hard for everybody because it will always reminds them of my mother in law since she loves Christmas. She always has gifts and hugs to everyone especially to her grandchildren and kids. We truly missed her a lot.

Anyway, I also was experiencing Blue Christmas because my husband wasn’t here with us during the holiday. He was deployed and will be back soon though. However, it was still sad since he wasn’t here with us during the holiday season and even New Year. I and the kids missed him a lot too. It was hard being with my kids alone. Although, we got more gifts for the kids than last year, but still it have other alternatives which was not so easy to deal with. Well, hopefully next year will be better for me.

Well, my kids and I got lots of gifts from my husband today! We got our son a new game (basically all of us could enjoy). It’s a Nintendo Wii and some new clothes as well. Then, I also got our new baby daughter a jumper and some new clothes which she would surely love! My dear hubby got me a coat too which I love the most of his gifts. Also, some clothing and make ups for me, perfumes and lingerie.

It was a fun Christmas but it would be joyful if my husband and my mother in law are here with us!

Best New Person in my Life

Last week on Girl's Talk is about Best New Person. Means that meeting someone new that we got to know in person for the first time EVER and has become our favorite person ever since. It could be a celebrity, a new friend, a new member of the family, etc. But for me on this theme would be my new bundle of joy, my daughter, Joella who is now 6 months old. (Literally, she's going to be 6 months this coming January).

She was born last July of this year and since then meeting her for the first time is a new different feeling that I had felt before. An unconditional love that you only wanted to bestow to your children. You know, if you happen to be a mother like me, you would felt this wonderful feeling of love. You are ready to kill someone, if that someone would mess up your kids. You know what I mean. It's a kind of love that is so strong, that you would only wanted to love them and no other. I felt this before with my son Josh which I felt that I would never have any other baby than him. But, of course, Joella came and it changes everything. What I felt for my son Josh, I felt it twice now. It was an amazing feeling. I was so grateful for having them in my life.

All I love about her is that she is just a sweetie. She coos and smile at me whenever she saw me. She would love to smile to everyone too. She would scream a lot which I find it so cute and funny. She loves to chew her fingers too which I find so cute of her and even look at it while waving it and even her toes. She was just a cutie! My mini me as every one always said so.

Anyway, I think for this year, my best person is my cute little precious baby girl! I thank God everyday for her!

Getting a New Pendant Lighting

A few months ago during summer time, my husband and I always used our ceiling fan and lights to makes our bedroom colder. It was then that we’ve been using the ceiling fan for quite a while that later on, we noticed that it is not working properly now. Every time we choose the function and features it has, it won’t work right. So, now we’re thinking it might be broken or something. I thought of finding a new one to replace it. Maybe, just put up a new pendant lighting instead of a fan with light. It might be a good idea to just get a traditional style of pendant lighting in mini size. My husband like the swag or plug in style, but it doesn’t matter to me as long as it matches the style and design to our traditional interior design.

Now, I can’t wait to get one soon. I’m quite excited about it too. I found some online, but not so sure yet, if I wanted to get one online or we just go to the store and look for one. Sometimes, it costs more though when you shop at the local store than online because all stores would require you to pay tax, unlike online, you can be free of tax and sometimes get free shipping while enjoying the benefit of 10 to 50% off. Plus, this website I found was having sale too. I’m getting so excited every time I look and shop online because I know I will get the one I want!

Missing Noche Buena (Christmas Eve) at Home

Philippines time has about 12 hours difference between USA. Therefore, when it is like 12 noon here, it is already 12 in the morning over there. So, celebrating a Christmas Eve is ahead over there. I miss when those times my mom used to prepare for our Noche Buena, where she prepares delicious food. I miss being with my family too. If I only had a chance to go home last November, I probably spent my Christmas time with them, but of course, things didn’t come as I want them to be. So, now I’m stuck of going there soon by January. Maybe, I will be spending time with my family celebrating Chinese New Year then.

Anyway, I used to eat a lot of food during Christmas season. We mostly celebrate Christmas Eve in the Philippines than on Christmas Day. Unlike here in US, most people celebrate Christmas on the 25th, with family and friends, opening gifts and decorating a Christmas tree. It was fun, but I missed those times when I was still in the Philippines. Those things I was used to do for almost 22 years of my life.
Well, hopefully, I could able to go back and visit Philippines again during Christmas season, together with my family too. Then, my family could be able to see my kids as well. It’s been a long time. It’s been about 7 years almost!

Now, I can’t wait to go home and see my family once again…

Outside my window...was rainy day! It was wet all day! It's been raining all day! I wish it was snow though!

I am thinking...about what to do so I called my sister in law and to see if she can able to drive me to the post office to send a friend's package.

I am thankful...for all the blessings! Although, my husband and I were apart from each other on this holiday season, we also had a chance to get what we want for Christmas.

From the learning rooms... computer was on.

In the kitchen...I cooked my favorite food,a rice noodles with shrimp, pork and chicken meat. I miss my mom's cook!

I am wearing...a pajama and a sweatshirt! It's really cold!

I am going...to the store and get some groceries tomorrow.

I am wondering...what time would my baby girl wake up tomorrow morning because I need more sleep!

I am reading...nothing so far. I have no time to read books...

A few plans for the rest of the week: I have plan to go to a Christmas party, but I couldn't make it. So, now I don't know what to do. I'm stuck at home with kids.

1. Well, it’s getting to be that time! Do you have any plans for this winter (December-March)?
=Yes, December I was planning to celebrate Christmas like putting trees and decorate it. Wrap gifts and put it under the trees. My husband and I do celebrate Christmas but not on the point where we're going to decorate, buy a Christmas tree and decorate it. But, now I was doing it and looking forward for next year. Then, on January, I also have plans to go on a vacation in my home country, Philippines. I was so excited about it. I'll be back in March 2012. I was thinking of what to do over there too! I already have some plans!

2. What do you like about winter? What don’t you like about winter?
=I love the idea of Christmas on winter time. I remember when I was a kid, I used to dream of a white Christmas. You know snowing during this holiday season. Since I came from a tropical country, snow was absurd. So, last year was awesome!

3. What is your favorite season? Why?
=I love the holiday season because it means one thing, gifts! LOL! It was also our wedding anniversary celebration. The best moment to spend time with family and friends too.

Where’d My Money Go?

This week on Girls Talk is all about Moola! Well, this topic is for us to share about the money that we earned and spent this year of 2011.

As for me, I worked online as well as a blogger and every time I earned money from blogging, I always spend it with food, clothing or shopping for some things we need as well such as groceries. I also have one bill to pay too, a cable and Internet. I think that’s where my money earned went most of the time. Though I also saved some cash for my trip soon to the Philippines, but mostly I spent my money on clothing and food (like when eating out). I also bought a domestic plane tickets for my savings too, other than that, I also bought an appliances when our microwave oven broke. We also spend some of our money on a trip to Florida as well.

Anyway, we also spend money on some of the things our children needs as well. Some basic needs particularly and clothing needs. Now, when the holiday season is here, we also spend money on gifts too. Sometimes I hated holidays because we have an excuse to spend even more!

Well, I think next year, we have to save money. Oh yeah! We always say the same thing every year. I guess we have to do it instead of putting it on the tip of our mouth. Oh well. We’re crossing our finger here!

Reminiscing

Almost 6 months ago, when I was still pregnant and waiting for my due date, I had my prenatal check up regularly until my due date passed. My OB was quite wondering why, so she hooked me into this medical computer cart with machine that will test me and my unborn baby to see if she was doing fine. It seemed like my little girl loves to be on my tummy than be outside of my womb because she sometimes kicked me but she also stops kicking to sleep. Then, after an hour or two of being in the small box at the medical center, I was finally charged out. It was exciting to hear my baby, but worried as well because I’m already a week past due.

So, my OB required breaking my water so that contraction will start soon. However, it was not that easy! Until the day is over! I had to undergo c-section; an emergency c-section for my daughter’s heartbeat is getting weaker and weaker. It was scary. After all those times, when I saw my sweet baby girl, all those pain and suffering vanishes. What a wonderful moment to cherish for the rest of my life!

Something Old...

This week on Girls Talk is all about Something Old. We will be talking about something old, old friends that we’ve reconnected within the past year after not seeing them for a very long time.

Let me think, well, last January 2011, I finally met some of my friends that I met before here in US through a friend’s invitation. I met them again after a couple of months of not seeing them. It was nice knowing that they still able to remember me. We talked; we had fun gobbling with our favorite Filipino food. I wish I could able to go back on driving soon so that I could able to spend more time with them.
Also, last March, I met some of my husband’s family again during my mother in law’s funeral. The last time I saw them was on my wedding last December 2005. After almost 6 years, I met and talked to them again.

What else, last April, I went to Florida to meet a high school friend whom I never seen for a long time. I think the last time I saw her was last December 2004 during my wedding in the Philippines. Since then, we never see each other. Then, last April 2011, I went to Miami, Florida to see her and her new husband. We talked and we shared a lot of memories! It was nice seeing her again.

Also, this coming January 2012, I’m going home to my home country Philippines for a vacation. I’m going to see a lot of friends I haven’t seen for a long time. A friend of mine that I have communication with through letters and emails without fail, a high school friend, my friends at church, a friend who I missed so much. I can’t wait to see them soon!

This week on Girls Talk is Something New...something that we never done before and which we are going to do this year! I missed a lot of Girl's Talk theme for these past few days due to my busy schedules. Oh,it is so hard to be a single parent right now with two small children. My hands are always full!

First of all, I would love to share some of the things I finally made this year that I never done before!

*This time, we finally, oh let me rephrase that, I finally brought a Christmas tree into our home! I bought ornaments and lights, and put it onto our living room. For being married for almost 7 years, I never, we never did Christmas decors. (Due to the fact that we were not really celebrating Christmas due to religious belief) but still doing it, for fun. An excuse to give gifts to someone we love. I think my kids would love it too. They will never be out of topic once they talk about Christmas at school or something. I know, it’s silly, but who believe in Santa? (We all know Santa is not real!)

*Secondly, finally after 7 years! I will go home and visit my family in the Philippines! This is one of the things I wanted to do for the past few years, and now finally I can make it! I’ve never been to the Philippines for so long since I came here in US. I surely missed my family and friends already! The food and the weather!

*Back to driving! I was looking forward to it. I never drove a car for a long time since I got into a light accident almost four years ago. I think I’m ready now! I must have, and I need to! I’m crossing my finger, though!

*Went to Florida, USA for the first time! It was a nice state! I wanted to go back there and enjoy sunny weather! (This time, I’m not a pregnant lady!) We went there when I was 7 months pregnant! It was hard, but I had fun! It must be more fun when I’m not!

Well, I think that’s all I wanted to share of things that I finally did and going to do this year! I’m so thankful for all the blessing!

Orthotist Benefit

A few months ago, I heard from my husband that his aunt got into a road accident. It was quite severe that left her neck broken and left arm. It was devastating knowing that she’s indeed a good driver, however the road doesn’t care. It was raining and maybe slippery. So, at that time, she was brought to the nearest hospital. As the months went by, she was still on treatment particularly a therapy where she needs a supports to correct some of the function of her neck and torso. She also needs therapy in regards of lifting and pulling using her arms. Good thing that hospitals here in US have qualified physical therapist, occupational therapist, and even Orthotist. I never heard about orthotist jobs before, or may be but not really paying attention to it. It was indeed a very helpful job! It was great to know that there’s an Orthotist Jobs out there because it was indeed a great comfort to those who need therapy. First Christmas Tree for US!

Since I came here in US, my husband and I agreed of not celebrating Christmas by putting up a Christmas tree, buy gifts for others, (maybe buy gifts for ourselves but always depend on our financial situation) or to decorate our house with full Christmas decoration.

However, we love to get gifts from my in laws which they don’t care if they will receive gifts from us which are so nice of them. Honestly, it is hard for us to buy gifts for all the family of my husband, there’s tons of them! So, we decided to better not to, so everyone will be fine with it. We only give gifts to my in laws (my mother and father in law), nonetheless, we also give gifts to our own children.

Anyway, as the years went by, I was getting so eager to buy ourselves a Christmas tree (even the fake ones) and decorate it. Until last Tuesday, I decided to get our first Christmas tree ever! After 7 years of being together! I went to Big Lots store and grab a 6 feet tall fake pre-lit Christmas tree for $35! Then, I bought blue and silver ornaments which is perfect for a 6 feet tall tree. It was not bad at all!
Then, with all the gifts we had for each other, the tree is amazingly beautiful! I can’t wait for the time when we open our gifts, too bad my dear husband was not home. Well good thing, video chatting is available!

Excited about the Trip

Last April of this year during our trip to Florida to my father in law’s place, we enjoyed a lot of things to do while enjoying the warm weather, Florida State has to offer. Not only we’ve enjoyed going to the beach, but also to the pool where surrounded by tropical flowers. It was a private pool which only for people living in the compound because they put a fence pool to show privacy. It was a nice pool, though not as big as what my friend had. But, it’s all worth it! All I need at that time during our vacation was to enjoy the warm weather and being outside all the time while Michigan was still freezing cold.

Anyway, next year, I was hoping to come back, but I’m going to a different place this time. Something my heart misses so much for almost 7 years now! I can’t wait to go back home soon to see my family and friends once again. I also look forward to go to the beach and swimming pool with them. I was so excited and I can’t wait any longer! I wish time would fly by so quickly!

My Style Icon is....

Last month has been a very busy month for me. I did most of the things which my husband could be able to do to help me out. Unfortunately, he wasn’t here, so I was left alone with two kids and some errands that I have to do. Therefore, I missed a lot of topic on Girls Talk. I even hardly make some updates in all of my blogs too which is quite disappointing. I wish I have a house helper to watch the kids for me, while I do my blogging assignments.

Anyway, I will stop ranting now because it doesn’t make any difference. The good thing is I could still be able to join Girls Talk at any time. So on this month’s theme is Dress Me Up which means one thing, it’s all about Fashion! I’m not really good on fashion and stuff, but I will try. I love clothing and I don’t know if I’m good at it though. I always asked my husband about what to wear and what not.

Well, this week’s topic is who will be my Style Icon. It gives me any idea, but I was quite not so sure about it. I would consider Jennifer Lopez, I love how she style and how she always have fashion in her heart. She looks great and amazing! Actually, one of the stores like Kohl’s owned some of her fashion clothing too which I always love to check and shop around. I don’t know I just love her sense of style and fashion.

A few days ago, I asked my dear husband what he wants for our wedding anniversary, he was thinking for a while and then said, “I don’t know” which means he doesn’t really want me to buy anything for him. Well, I'm not talking about Miss Chika from Sprout but I'm glad I was able to use chikka again to send text messages to my family and friends to the Philippines. I had been using chikka before but stopped using it for some reason that sending text messages to my family and friends were so limited. But, I have no other choice, but to use it again due to its free and it only cost 50 cents in Philippine peso for them to send back a reply to me. So, I think it is a better choice if I wanted to save my monthly text messages.

Anyway, I was looking for some free application on Apple store to download and that's where I got the chikka application for iPhone. I was so glad that I can use chikka through my phone which means so easy for me to send text messages now to my family and friends. I'm quite so glad about it.

Two months from now, I will be leaving US to visit my family in the Philippines. I’m quite so excited about it and each and every day, I always think about what to buy to bring to the Philippines. I thought of buying a t-shirts too for my dear brother. He’s a goofball and so buying some funny t-shirts for him might be a good idea. I saw some funny t-shirts online for sale for only $12.99; I could get him one, my dad, my nephew and niece or some of my friends too. I’m quite excited about buying him some of these funny tees. Kids

1. Do you have kids? If so, do you like having a family? If you don’t have kids, do you want them? Why/why not?
=Yes, I have two kids. Yes, I do love having a family. It was sweet, though sometimes it was tiring, but seeing my kids every day healthy and happy, that makes me happy too. I am fully satisfied of being a mother and a wife.

2. If you’re a parent, what kinds of challanges do you have because you have kids? If you’re not a parent, you must have friends that have kids….what difficulties do you see that they deal with?
=Well, having kids is tough! Having too many kids might be the craziest thing ever a human could ever have! I was wondering how those people do having 5 or more kids. I only have two, but it was already crazy inside the house! I couldn't imagine myself having more kids other than two. I think the challenges of having kids was to meet their needs everyday. You woke up early,you prioritize them, you can't just go out unless you hire a baby sitter to look after them. It is just not easy, even financially. Kids are too expensive too!

3. What about other people’s kids? Weather you have them or not, do you like being around kids?
=Well, I do sometimes. But,having my own kids at home, I think I wanted to be away with kids for a while. I already had enough of my own...

Holiday is around the corner and it means one thing, I need to get ready for my holiday wish list! I need a lot of things this holiday, but of course, I need to prioritize things that I really need so badly. When my husband asked me what I want for Christmas, I told him I need a new purse. This week on Girls Talk is Food for the Holidays...

When it comes to a special holiday like Christmas, it reminds me of my mom’s cook. She was indeed a very good cook. I missed all of her cook though, I wish I could able to go home this holiday, but things didn’t come as I expected them to be. So, now I have to wait until January to experience the indulgence of delicious food cooked by my dear mother. I can’t wait and each and every day I get so excited about it.

Anyway, this week, we’re going to share some food we love to eat during the holiday. As always when I was still in the Philippines, I enjoyed fruit salad, spaghetti (Filipino style), and Caldereta. But, now, I don’t care anymore! I missed all the Filipino delicacies and deserts. I haven’t been eating all Filipino style for almost 7 years now and I’m quite lost about it all the time. I can’t wait to go home soon, really!

Well, when it comes to holiday here in US, mostly, my in laws love to prepare turkey meat or ham as part of the main dish with mashed potatoes, some steamed vegetables and some fruit salad. It was good, but it made me miss my own traditional way to prepare foods. This upcoming thanksgiving day, we will absolutely prepare roasted turkey with potatoes. I will definitely bring some rice with me.

Dream Kitchen Sink Makeover

A few days ago, my friends posted pictures of their dream kitchen on their blogs. As I visited each one of them, I noticed that most of their dream kitchen has Stainless Steel Kitchen Sinks in it. I thought stainless kitchen sink must be the good option these days to make the perfect dream kitchen superlative. I thought of mine own dream kitchen; I thought I want everything in it to be stainless. Stainless cabinets, stainless appliances (freezer and cooking oven) or maybe a stainless microwave oven too. For me stainless stuff is easily to be clean and also it is stain and scratch resistant.

Therefore, if I have given a chance, an opportunity to do a kitchen makeover, I will absolutely get a brand new Stainless Steel Kitchen Sink for my kitchen. I need to replace the kitchen sink so badly. I’m tired of cleaning it over and over and now it has stain in it from the rust. I wish I could able to do so. I will tell my husband about it. Pinay in State's for October 25th

FOR TODAY

Outside my window...I can see the rain. It's been raining the whole day! When I went to get the mail, the wind is chilly. It seems like the winter is here.

I am thinking...what to do for the next couple of months of hubby not being here. And me of not be able to go home to visit my family. Maybe, I will just stay home and spend time with my kids, do my blogging, watch TV, do household chores, and grocery shopping. Nothing new. The same as usual.

I am thankful...for my two beautiful kids! They're my joy in life.

From the learning rooms...computer is on, working on a blog post.

In the kitchen...I could small a fried pork and a steam rice. I just had my lunch a while ago but the smell was still there.

I am wearing...a plaid purple and black pajama and a grey top.

I am creating...a blog post while trying to watch TV...

I am going...to the store tomorrow to get some groceries again. I will also send a package to my sister in Connecticut, and send my father in law's letters to his new address. I wish I could able to stop by at Bath and Body Works too.

I am wondering...what time would be best to go to the store tomorrow, if it's not raining. I hate being in the rain with two kids.

I am reading...nothing so far, but I'm reading some articles online.

I am hoping...that two months will go by fast! I miss my husband so much and I can't wait to go and visit my family back in the Philippines soon!

I am looking forward to...my upcoming trip to the Philippines soon. I'm getting so excited each and everyday!

Recently, I just made a post about my dream kitchen and one of the things I mentioned about was the kitchen sink. This week on Girls Talk is Kitchen Wishes…

When I read about this week’s theme, I thought for a while about what really are my wishes for my kitchen. I thought I don’t need anything, but when I think about it, I wanted a lot of things for my kitchen. I don’t know where to start but if I have given a chance to share it here why not?

Let me share to you a picture of my dream kitchen! Well, I don’t really need a huge kitchen; all I need was that I have everything in it. A granite marble, spacious, stainless appliances and kitchen sink. If I have a house on my own that I really design to build, I would definitely make my kitchen look like this!

This is perfect, yet it's missing something. A granite type dining table which is the only thing I could change on this picture. Like this one below:

Even though, our kitchen was fine right now, but it was really small. It is quite good enough for small family like us. However, if we have party at home, our kitchen is definitely so small for everybody. It became so tight and it is just overwhelming. It is because my father in law used to live at this home before and he’s living alone during those time.

However, I love the cooking corner of our house now because of the grilling area. But, I hate the kicthen sink and the counter top. I wanted to expand it. Yet, I love the wall mirror right in our dining table too facing the kitchen because it helps the kitchen to look wider, although it is was not. I think that’s the plus of it.

A Hitch For You!

It was two years ago when we moved out of an apartment and moved to my father in law’s house to rent. At that time, we had to unload all our stuff again and in need of a big transporting truck to make it as one way travel to avoid paying too much. We did, but there are a few items left that we can’t unload and stuck up to the hauling truck. We need some help and that’s where my father in law asked his nephew if we could borrow his truck that has trailer hitches in it. It was the best because then we rented an additional moving truck, a trailer. It was perfect! I thought we really need to get a trailer hitch in our car too.

So, that whenever we need it we can just rent a trailer and we’re ready to go. I was thinking the same thing too, when we went to a road trip. We had so much stuff that we can’t able to move inside of the car. We need an extra storage, a trailer. I bet this is very useful thing to have.

Now, I was looking for some hitches online and I found some at Hitch Depot USA. They have a useful tool where you can able to search what hitch is right for your car. We have a 2011 cruze and this is the hitch I found, a CURT Class I Hitch - 1-1/4" Receiver Tube Opening. This is what we really need for only $127! What more could you ask for? Fall

I can't believe it how time went by so fast. Summer is finally over and fall is already here because of the rain, the chilly weather, and also the changing color of leaves on the trees. I remember when we went to an Apple Orchard a week ago, I saw a lot of trees already changing. It was beautiful and breathtaking, but it reminds me that it is going to be so cold soon.

So, when it comes to fall:

1. Is there anything specific you would like to accomplish this fall? If so, what is it? If not, why not?
=Well, I don't really have something in mind right now. I wanted to purchase the ticket this fall before the peak season at the airline website will go up higher and the ticket will be so expensive. I wish I could that so soon, but I don't know. I'm not sure now. I don't really know, it is just too overwhelming.

2. Is there anything going on this fall that you’re looking forward to? If so, what?
=Yes. I was thinking about my son's next trick or treating, but I think I'm not going to do it this year.

3. Do you like the season that is Fall? Why/why not?
=Yes, I do. I love the weather. I just hate the rains that associated with it. I also hate the idea of the weather which sometimes it gets so windy and cold. But, I love the changing colors of trees and also the apple picking...

Affordable iPod Shuffle

A few days ago, I talked to my sister in law asking her what would be the best gift to bring for my niece and nephew when I visit soon. She told me about how my niece and nephew love to listen to music. They never had anything yet like a ipod shuffle 2gb or anything like of an iPod.They always used their Mp3 on their cellphone to listen to some of their favorite music. I was thinking now what to get and when I go online to look for an iPod, that’s where I found an affordable iPod for only $50, for two, I only spend $100, what more could I ask for? I was thinking of getting the pink and blue iPod. I can’t wait to order it soon and to surprise my niece and nephew. It is going to be my Christmas gifts for them. I hope they will like it though.

Anyway, the shipping is fast too, they will ship it on the next business day. I could order it as soon as I have the money available. It is going to be amazing. I was thinking of getting myself an iPod Shuffle too.

FOR TODAY

Outside my window...it's gloomy! It has been raining the whole time for these past few days.

I am thinking...about what to do for the next couple of days where I can't able to go home now. It's so sad. I'm so sad.I have lots of plans, yet everything just disappear like in a link of an eye.

I am thankful...that my kids are here with me despite the fact that I felt so alone now.

From the learning rooms... well, as usual my son's toys are everywhere. It was crazy, but I know, he's just a kid and loves to play a lot!

In the kitchen...I could smell the steamed crab...I forgot to lit the candle to take away the smell.

I am wearing...a plaid pajama and purple tops. I still in my sleepy attire. I don't feel like changing clothes because it was so gloomy and I felt like I wanted to go to bed.

I am creating...a blog post and my assignment...

I am going...nowhere! I wanted to go to a birthday party this Saturday, but I can't.

I am wondering...what would be my son's evaluation next month...

I am reading...no book...but I was reading some articles online.

I am hoping...that someday, my son will eat...

I am looking forward to...see a lot of things about my son and my daughter as the years went by.

I am hearing...my son talking to himself. He might playing a "pretend" game again which he loves to do a lot of times. I know being alone at home with me and his baby sister is such a boring life for him.

Around the house...well, there are things that needed to do. But, I was here online instead doing my blogging assignments.

I am pondering...what this mean? Sometimes, the path you're on doesn't seem to be the one you chose. But like driving, you have to steer around obstacles in order to get where you're going....

One of my favorite things...is to blog, watch my favorite show on TV like Revenge and Investigation Discovery shows.

A few plans for the rest of the week: I don't have plans for this week, however, I was thinking of going to a birthday party, but not sure about it.

Weird Food Names

This week on Girls Talk is about food names! This is definitely interesting since I have found some funny names or even weird names for a food. Sometimes, going on an Asian restaurant and even Italian restaurant, you can see a lot of names that you haven’t’ seen before. Well, I missed two weeks of Thursdays too. But, I’m glad it’s back with a funny theme for this week.

Anyway, I went to a Japanese-Chinese Restaurant the other day and that’s where I found this food called Woo Dip Harr, it is just a butterfly shrimp dipped in a light batter, wrapped in bacon, and served on a bed of sautéed onions with almonds in a tangy sauce. Well, I don’t know what it means, but maybe it meant something to the Chinese people.

Also, I’ve been to a Korean restaurant once too when my husband came home from our application for passport for our kids. And when I sit down, I looked at the menu, I was surprised. I can’t even pronounce any titles at the menu. There’s a Japchae which is a noodle stir fried, BiBim Bap which is an assorted vegetables with beef over rice in a Korean sauce, Cham Pong which is shrimp and squid with a noodle in a spicy sauce, and Cha-Chang Myon which is shrimp with beef and onion. But in the end, I ended up ordering the Bok Ho which is the mixed of pork, shrimp and chicken meat.

These names are merely from their own language. It means something. Just like us with our Caldereta, Kinilaw, and Sisig! I bet it may sounds so funny to foreigners too. Well, I don't have pictures of it since I haven't order them yet. I just have this menu which I found so interesting. Maybe, someday I will order a take out and take a picture of it!

Train Birthday Theme for Josh's 5th Birthday

Four months from now will be my son’s 5th birthday and this birthday of his will be special than any other birthday he had because we will be going on a vacation to see my family. We will be visiting Philippines to see my son’s grandparents, uncle and aunt, and his cousin whom he never met yet until then. It will be so exciting! We will stay there for about three months which means we will be celebrating his 5th birthday there too.

Since my son loves trains, I thought of making his birthday theme of trains! He will surely love this idea. I know my son; he’s going to have a blast. I’m quite excited for him now.

Making allergy symptoms a little more bearable

I'm not sure why but it just seems that my seasonal allergies are so much worse than anyone else's that I know. I'm always the one sneezing the most at my office and it seems like no matter how much under eye concealer I use, my eyes are always going to be puffy and red rimmed. It's really not a great fall look for me. So I decided that this year I would work on finding a better solution for my allergies.

So I went online to see if I could find some good advice about that and find out some really great tips on what exactly I could be doing to make my allergies more bearable this season. While I was doing that I ran across a clear coverage map. I showed it to my roommates and after we found our area on there, we decided to change over our wireless service to it.

I think that I'm going to have to be a little more vigilant about my allergy symptoms this year. I'm going to invest in some depuffing eye cream and some better nasal steroid spray. Hopefully the two of those will help make a huge difference!

Traveling with Kids

Thank God it’s Friday! It means one thing; it is time for Aloha Fridays! It is a weekly meme which you can ask question and share your thoughts about it. Let readers share their opinion and thoughts too. It’s been a long time that I haven’t done anything on Aloha Fridays for these past few days, but now I’m back, thankfully.

Anyway, this week, I was going to ask and I really need an answer, maybe, some thoughts and tips from other parents who experienced the same situation. I was planning to go to a trip on November of this year to see my parents in the Philippines together with my kids (I’m traveling internationally). My kid’s ages are 4 and 4 months old. I could picture now what it is like for me to be alone with a toddler and an infant while traveling, but I need some helpful tips of how to deal with a four year old and an infant. The trip will be 16 hours! It’s crazy, but this is all it is!

Is the stroller advisable? What kind of stroller do I need? My 4 year old is still wearing diaper, it’s crazy, but I have tried a million ways, but still his tough. I think I have to be tougher than him.

Do you have anything in mind what was great for traveling with kids on these ages? Any tips and advice is greatly appreciated. I’m really so excited about the trip, but I don’t want to deal with crazy things!

Kitchen Sink Replacement

My husband together with his sibling was planning to sell out the house of their late mother in order to pay debts she eventually had when she was still alive. It was devastating that in order to pay all her debts, they need to put the house on sale so that everything will be claimed as well. It was hard, yet this is all they need to do. However, there are a lot of things that they still need to do inside the house, it badly needs to be clean up and replace the bath tub and the Undermount Kitchen Sink that needs to be clean up due to stains and scratches, but if it’s not going to work, they need to replace it.

Therefore, I didn’t hesitate to share to my husband those Undermount Kitchen Sinks I found online at very reliable price, yet made with good quality material. They have sink selection where it is stain and scratch resistant which was way better to use these days.
So, my husband needs to look at it and let his sibling know about it. Well, I hope they will make a better a choice and save money.

Girls Talk: As White as Snow

Since it is getting colder here now in Michigan, it reminds me of winter season where snowy time will be soon hanging around the corner. Although, winter is not here yet, but the cold, chilly weather reminds me of one and how cold it is during snow time. I was seemed so excited to see more snow this year, but if God permits, I would missed it this year since I’m planning to go home in the Philippines and spend most of my winter time over there, instead. So, it means I will miss the whiteness of snow most of this year and that doesn’t bother me at all. I don't know why, but I had enough of it, I guess. But, not with these stuff I love as white as snow!

Anyway, this month on Girl’s Talk is all colors and me! This week’s color is WHITE! I have some couple of personal belongings that is white particularly most of my tank tops which I wore for layering. I also have some stuff that is in white. I have two purses in white and one sandal in white which are new favorites.

The first purse I got last year from New York and Company for cheap, I think I only paid like about $19 from originally price of $37. I think this is my favorite one because of how easy to clean it up. I just wipe it with wet cloth and stains are gone. I also got a new white purse again at DSW store. It was Ecko Unlimited Red by Marc Ecko handbag, Sarah Satchel purse which seemed so prone to stain which I’m afraid to use. However, this bag is so soft and I love the pleating and extra pockets outside plus it is big enough to hold everything but small enough to not feel like I’m carrying a boulder on my shoulder.

Another white stuff I owned in white was my two sandals. I got them in separate times though, but I don't know I love white sandal, they're so cute. The first one I got from DSW store again and the other one is at Bakers Shoes. I just love them! They’re so perfect with white shorts too!

A few days ago, my sister in law shared a funny video through the social network and then sent me a message to watch it. It was about a woman who loves; let me rephrase that, crazy in love about cats! It is funny, yet so hilarious! I thought it must be not real since someday she might marry a cat.

Then, she shared another funny video again about a woman which I didn’t understand at this time, but it was seemed ridiculous and funny! From the play room...my son had been watching TV for a while and nothing else so far.

In the kitchen...again I was making dinner for me and for my husband.

I am wearing...short and tank top, I'm definitely ready for bed.

I am hoping...that my daughter's yeast rash will soon go away. I felt so bad about it. I wish I could take it all from her. Poor little baby girl!

Living Life in the United States of America

Living here in America is not what people thought it would be. A lot of people wanted to come here and work, yet they don’t know what it is really like here in US. My friends’ way back in the Philippines will ask me if how I was doing. Of course, I will tell them I was doing well and as the days and weeks and months went by, it is as what I’m supposed to live. Since they couldn’t see what it is really like to live in here, then they will never understand. If they were on my shoes, I don’t know what they’re going to think about. But, as for me, it is not easy.

First of all, when it comes to living lifestyle, I know being here in US is good. You can have a car, but it will never be a luxury, unless you get an expensive car which depends on your income and credit history. If you have no job, no credit background, then you can just get cheaper cars.

Secondly, it is better here I guess compare to living a life in the Philippines since when it comes to medical needs, US residents really can get help medically particularly for kids and pregnant women. I can say it is better because I experienced it and I enjoy the benefit. Though, there are some medical practitioner you can choose since not a lot of them accepts government medical insurance, so still, it is way better.

Thirdly, the education is excellent for kids. If I were to choose again, I will send my kids to school here, though sometimes you have to be wise to choose what school is better. Though, the school here is quite expensive, but I think we can able to survive with it.

Lastly, having kids here in America needs you to be a tough one! You all the work! So, it is quite hard that sometimes if you decide to live here in US and having kids, then you have to be patience, strong, brave enough to face the challenge because no else will help you even though you have family and friend around for 24 hours!

Girls Talk: Pink Things

This month on Girls Talk is all about colors. The theme color for this week is Pink. I love color pink but mostly, I hold back from buying too much pink due to the fact that I wasn’t lucky enough. I have a pink purse before but it got all ripped off. I got pink blouses but it has holes in them after a few wears. I don’t know, I maybe just exaggerating. But, it never stopped me from buying pink, though. As a matter of fact, I got my phone a casing and guess what it is in pink color! It is one of my favorite casing though. I have a black case, but this one was really very convenient and easy to use. I don’t need to take all the case out of the phone if I needed to place my phone on the dock of my iHome and charge it. Or charge it using my cord charger and car charger.

Another pink stuff I love is my daughter’s clothing! All pink clothing is cute especially for a newborn infant like my baby. Here are some of the pink clothes I love and my favorite too so far! I just can’t get enough of her! One day, I promise myself not to buy a lot of pink for my daughter, but I can’t help it. It was so irresistible!

Last Labor day, we went to celebrate the holiday with my husband’s family during those time we heard a lot of things that my in laws still needed for their kids in school. Outside my window....it's a rainy, gloomy day! It seems like summer is finally gone.

I am thankful for...God is always there to meet our needs. Despite the fact that sometimes life is too hard to deal with. But, nothing is impossible with God.

I am going...to make an appointment to next week for passport photos and then an appointment for applying a passport for my kids.

I am praying...that there will be peace and nothing will happen on the anniversary of September 11. It is credible, but nothing confirmed yet that there might be. But, who knows.I pray nothing will happen.

I am hearing...about Kimchi and how good it is for your guts (digestive system) and all over health. That sounds interesting.

Around the house...toys everywhere as usual! As I always posted in here. I wish there's something new.

One of my favorite things...is to watch my favorite shows on TV, playing games on my phone, cuddle with hubby, and give kisses and hugs to my two beautiful kids.

A few plans for the rest of the week...nothing so far. My husband has to go to work this weekend, so I stayed home probably most of the day to be with my kids.

Girls Talk: My Black Essentials

This week on Girls Talk is all about Black. I remember these theme last year. It was indeed a lot of fun. Sharing and talking about what I really love is what makes me got interested on things. So on this week, we're back on talking about colors again on Girls Talk. This is the second time around.

Since we we're talking about black, I'm going to share some of the new things I got several months ago that are black. There are only three things, my essentials, my new cell phone that I got last February 2011, my Magic Sing system which I got last April 2011, and my new digital camera which I got last June 2011.

This is my iPhone 4 that I got for my birthday. It was expensive, but I got it cheaper due to the plan that needs to be contracted so that the iPhone will be then cheaper to buy. Instead of $699, I got it for only $199, not so bad eh? Plus, this phone really rocks my world! LOL! Of course, before my baby girl arrives. It has all the features I need and it was really so useful. I love my phone!

Aloha Fridays: How's the Weather?

Thank God it's Friday once again, but for me it is another day to enjoy and be thankful! However, I hated it when days went by so quickly since it means one thing, my husband will be leaving so soon for work. I'm going to miss him so much. But, I will be jealous since he's going to be warm all winter and I'm going to be here during fall season which means I have to deal with cool weather soon. The weather here in Michigan is dropping now at around 60 Fahrenheit during night time. And, around 70 to 80 Fahrenheit during day time. I hated it when I thought about summer is almost over now.

Well, my question for this week is:

What’s the weather been like so far this summer? ‘Normal’ for where you are, or something else?

=The weather here in Michigan during summer time is really nice. It's between 80 to 90F during most of the summer time. It is not normal though because mostly it's cold here in Michigan, almost all months until around June to August.

It’s about two months now since we got our new car, however, we find that the car floor liners now needs to be clean. I know it is normal to have those floor liners get dirty, but no matter what others have to say, I prefer to have a clean car. So, I told my husband earlier to clean our car and vacuum the floor liners too. It reminds me of our old car before where as we never care about dirty floor liners, so by the time we need to clean them, it’s too late. We badly need new floor liners. So, we bought some new ones until we decided to sell our old car and buy a new one.

Anyway, I found some floor liners online now which means I don’t really have to worry having stains and dirty floor liners. I love the job of being the boss.

=Well, I don't like doing household chores! I hated it, but I must you know just to survive. But, if I have to not do laundry, loading the dirty dishes, cleaning the house, the bathroom, the bath tub, the whole entire house!

=Well, I wanted to try to be a newscaster, a reporter maybe. Or maybe to be a detective, studying crimes and stuff. It must be interesting, isn't it?

This week on Girls Talk is what my most wrong spelled word is.

Well, I think as what most people had been misspelled is the word receive. Mostly, some people put the i before the e, then it became recieve. A lot of words associated with these two letters such as deceive and perceive. Sometimes, I have to check on it twice to make sure I got the right spelling, but mostly these are my wrong spelled words. Now, I have some new words such as rhythm, occasion particularly. I got confused how many s or c in the word.

Other than that, I think I'm a good speller because I'm quite sensitive about it. I'm really so into the idea that to make sure, I got all my spelling right. Thanks to the spelling checker now that I don't need to go back and check which words are not right.

Last weekend, my family went to see the bi-annual air show here in our area. Actually, it was my second time to see the air show myself. The first one was last 2009 where I finally saw some of the U.S air craft in real. It was awesome, particularly the shows they have. Last weekend, we were there and saw some new aircraft too and some exciting shows as well. Since we got a new camera, it is getting more exciting to take photos. For 7 years of being here in the US, I never thought I could see those flying air craft that I only saw on TV or movies. Now, it is right in front of me!

Here are some of the photos at the air show, the F-16 which was famous to have the speed of sound. I took a video of the show too which shows how fast and loud the F-22 aircraft was!

Well, now we have to wait another year before we can able to watch another show. I hope this time we can able to see more of the US Air Force Thunderbirds which is famous. However, last weekend, we have an awesome show too from the Air Combat Command F-22 Demonstration Team at Langley Air Force Base performs precision aerial maneuvers to demonstrate the unique capabilities of the world's only operational fifth-generation fighter aircraft. The team members also exhibit the professional qualities the Air Force develops in the people who fly, maintain and support these aircraft which I missed some of it due to the rain! Oh, I hate it when it rains!

Well, maybe better luck next time.

The Cook In You

Name your 3 favorite dishes that you like to cook. Describe what’s in them.

Well, I'm not fond of cooking, but I love to cook some of the Filipino dishes that my mom used to make when I was still in the Philippines.

Here are some of the dishes:

1. Caldereta (Filipino beef stew) - a comforting beef stew popular in the Philippines. Every family has its own version. Experiment with the ingredients and try different vegetables. The main ingredients is beef round or chuck, cut in cubes. A white vinegar, soy sauce, oil, onion, bell pepper, garlic minced, tomato sauce, water, potatoes, peeled and cubed, peas, some salt and pepper to taste and some people love to add liver pâsté but it is not really necessary. Some variations are goat meat which is often used instead of beef when making caldereta. It can also be made with chicken.
Some also add brown sliced chorizo sausage along with the beef and add to the stew. Or add cup pitted green olives when you add the potatoes and peas. We also try adding different vegetables such as cabbage, carrots, and cassava root.

2. Kinilaw na Tuna - Kinilaw means to “cook” in vinegar. It’s not really cooking since there is no heat involved. But soaking fish or some other seafood in a strong vinegar solution turns the meat opaque and gives it a texture of having been cooked. The main ingredients is of course, yellow fin tuna fillets
half a head of garlic, peeled and crushed, a thumb-sized piece of ginger, peeled and sliced, a white onion, thinly sliced, green chili peppers, cut diagonally into thick slices, red or green bell pepper, vinegar, salt and pepper, lemon juice, and coconut cream.

3. Lastly, Kare-kare, it is a Philippine stew. It is made from peanut sauce with a variety of vegetables, stewed oxtail, beef, and occasionally offal or tripe. The main ingredients are beef (round or sirloin cut) cut into cubes, beef tripe or oxtail (cut 2 inch long) or a combination of all three (beef, tripe and oxtail), peanut butter, grounded toasted rice, cooked bagoong alamang (anchovies), onions, garlic, atsuete oil, eggplant, Pechay (Bok choy), sitaw (string beans), banana bud, oil, water, salt to taste.

These are my favorite dishes! I missed them so much! I wish I could gather all the ingredients and cook them! (I always make the Kinilaw na Tuna).

Grandmother

Last weekend, my family went to eat out at one of the best Italian restaurant here in our area to celebrate my husband and my sister in law's birthday. During our waiting for our food, we talked a lot and my father in law mentioned about my husband's grandmother had been feeling lately. She was diagnosed with cancer a year ago and recently she was diagnosed with Alzheimer. Therefore, my father in law who recently living in Florida stayed here in Michigan for almost a month now to help his sister watch their mother.

Anyway, about her health, she's not feeling better, yet she was positive on her outlook about life and death. She's old, therefore, she was not really healing, though she was in medication. Although, she was medicated, she has other condition that needs to be taken care of. Being forgetful is another thing which sometimes she needs to be reminded to eat. She was also wearing adult diaper because she can't able to go on a bathroom by herself without accidents. It was sad because she was a very nice lady and she was very sweet.

Well, my family plan to see her someday...

It’s going to be the vacation of a lifetime! My husband and I are going on vacation to Tahiti. I’ve always wanted to go there and these past two years have been tough ones for us. He lost his job-but got a better one later. My Mom and his father died. We lost our beloved dog and moved to a new city. These were all tough things to endure but we are rewarding our perseverance with this trip. My birthday was last April 2011 and before my birthday I wished that someday I could able to go back home and visit my family. I've been here in US for almost 7 years now and still counting. I'm so late now to post my entry for this topic, but I don't want to miss the opportunity of sharing to you the best birthday gift I ever received. Well, it was year 2007, I was a first time mother of my now 4 year old son. I think my son by the time I turned 27 was only 3 months old. I got my first Sony handycam camcorder and I was so thankful because my husband's family giving out some cash for it. It was so sweet of hubby to think about it.

Well, I thought it was the best one, but I also consider last birthday I had. It was last April 2011 of this year, my family went to Florida for a birthday getaway for me!!! We went to beaches at Naples, Florida, visit my friend in Miami, Florida, and we went to Sea World Orlando. It was fun! Though, I was pregnant at that time, so I wasn't really enjoying though because of my huge tummy, but I had so much fun!

Our daddy will soon celebrate his birthday. We were so excited about it since this is going to be so exiting for him. Since he is a new dad for the second time around, I’m thinking of getting him something special this time. Last week on Girls Talk is the most memorable high school moments. Well, when someone asked me what I love about school and what I missed, I would say, I truly missed my high school days. I don’t know why, but high school is the fondest moments to cherish with. Not on grade school, not college times, but high school. It is probably the longest time where you can able to keep same friends. Unlike, elementary years, you will keep changing friends and also it is the time where you will experience being a kid where bullies are present you know. So, elementary wasn’t really a good taste for me. Until, I came to high school. I kept the same friends, we shared the same stuff, and we just enjoyed boys and school. I think this is the time where puppy love started, crushes are on the loose, and admirers are like bees waiting to buzz someone they adore. You know what I mean.

For me, the most memorable moments of my high school life was during 3rd and 4th years. Mostly, during Valentine’s Day where hearts day were celebrated and also, the time for Junior and Senior promenade. I also missed those times where we will able to stay for a couple of hours to practice for PMT (Philippine Military Training) and mess up! LOL! You know flirting with our crushes. Well, some of my friends are, but not me, I’m kind a naïve during my high school days, but I love being admired.

Well, I guess that’s all I could think of during high school days. I also missed being with my friends too and the things we enjoyed. I just missed being young again.

Hubby needs a new Phone

Last weekend, my husband had been ranting about his old phone since it has been roaming for some reason which charged us more for extra roaming service fee. The thing is, we don’t know why such phone roamed on its own without an option to turn it off. Since we lived by the water connecting to Canada border, my husband always received a text message which to let him know he will be charged. It was so ridiculous since we called the mobile phone provider we have and they couldn’t do anything about it which is insensible. I thought they might be considerate and not charge us, but they kept on doing so. So, my husband had to turn his phone off, most of the time. Isn’t it useless?

Outside My Window. . . it is sunny! But, I was stacked inside home because I just came home from the hospital. My daughter first day being at home.

I Am Thinking. . .of I wanted to breastfed or not. I was having too much pain because of the c-section I had. My uterus contracting again to get back to its normal size, and my chest. Oh, I hate being a woman!

I Am Grateful. . . that my husband is here with me to take good care of me, and to make everything feel better.

Breastfeeding or Diet Pills?

It’s been 9 months that I’ve been waiting for my pregnancy to get over and now it’s finally here which means sooner or later I could able to get back on my post-pregnancy weight. Then, I would be able to wear my old clothes again and just enjoy being a new mom for the second time around. I wish I was able to breastfed my baby girl, but unfortunately, I had an emergency cesarean section which impede to do so. I felt so bad about it since I heard that breastfeeding can help me to lose weight. However, I thought it might depend on women’s body because I knew some women who breastfed their children most of their lives, yet didn’t lose weight. Maybe, breastfeeding only works on some women too.

Therefore, I wasn’t really being bothered by it, yet I was sad since I couldn’t give my baby girl the best nutrients she needs. Well, I think I have to make myself better first right and be comfortable to give my children the best thing they deserve.

For the meantime, I can’t wait to find the safest diet pills that work on me sometime soon. Who knows I might lose weight on taking diet pills and exercise than breastfeeding. Who knows.

1. Which childhood fairy tale or story was your favorite when you were little?
=I love the Cindrella, The Sleeping Beauty, The Swan Princess, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs fairy tales. I love the idea of how life can be like this. I'm always thinking that there could be someone out there who is ready to save me at anytime.

2. Who in your family told you the most fairy tales or stories?
=My mother. She used to tell me stories and bed time stories. Yet, I mostly saw the fairy tales on TV and read some of the books about it.

3. Were most of the those stories told from memory or read from a book?
=I read it from a book, but sometimes my mom used to read the books for me. Then, I watched some of the fairy tales on TV too. So, now I have this memory of having a beautiful fairy tales.

4. What’s your favorite part of a fairy tale?
=Well, I love happy ending. This is what we always wanted. I also love the idea of how the princes saved their princesses and fight for their love no matter what the cost.
